Business Challenge

Our client, WorldRemit, is a digital cross-border remittance business that provides international money transfer and remittance services in more than 130 countries and over 70 currencies. Due to the characteristics of the Windows infrastructure, the company faced the following issue: the cluster hosting the main company’s database was not functioning properly, leading to a high number of incidents. Additionally, contributing to these incidents, there was no unified automation cluster.

Project Results

To address system issues, we focused on several key areas:

  • Ensured uninterrupted service for WorldRemit’s global money transfer operations by reducing downtimes, unifying clusters, implementing auto-recovery, and developing robust incident and change management.
  • Enabled WorldRemit to handle growing user demands and transaction volumes by configuring fault-tolerant, scalable servers.
  • Streamlined operations, reduced manual interventions, and accelerated time-to-market by automating CI/CD pipelines and resource management.

Solution Provided

Our efforts led to the following achievements:

Configured Azure and AWS, Resulting in Successful Deployments:

  • Implemented best practices for cloud infrastructure on both Azure and AWS platforms.
  • Ensured seamless integration and interoperability between multi-cloud environments.
  • Achieved zero-downtime deployments, enhancing user experience and service availability.

Started Managing All Resources Through Terraform:

  • Introduced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with Terraform to standardize and automate resource provisioning.
  • Enabled version control and easy rollback capabilities for infrastructure changes.
  • Improved resource management efficiency and reduced human errors in deployments.

Automated CI/CD Pipelines:

  • Established continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to streamline development workflows.
  • Reduced deployment times and increased deployment frequency, allowing for faster iteration and innovation.
  • Integrated automated testing and security checks to ensure code quality and compliance.

Built an Incident Management Process from Scratch on FireHydrant and Enabled an Auto-Reporting System:

  • Developed a robust incident management framework using FireHydrant, ensuring swift identification and resolution of incidents.
  • Automated incident reporting and tracking, providing real-time visibility into system health and performance.
  • Reduced mean time to resolution (MTTR) and improved overall incident response efficiency.

Created a Change Management Process from Scratch:

  • Implemented a comprehensive change management process to oversee and document all changes to the system.
  • Ensured meticulous tracking of changes from creation to implementation, providing a clear audit trail.
  • Facilitated informed decision-making and minimized risks associated with changes, enhancing system stability.

These improvements not only strengthen the technical foundation of WorldRemit’s services but also enhance customer satisfaction and trust, paving the way for future growth and innovation.
